The idea for the games was mooted by alumni association of both schools, St. John's Institution Alumni Association (SJIAA) and Victoria Institution Old Boys' Association (VIOBA) and over the coming months five events have been scheduled to be played out between these two great institutions.

Highlight of the day came next when ex-Johannians and ex-Victorians played out an interesting and closely fought match. The ex-Johannians took an early lead but in the end ex-Victorians won the match with a 3-2 scoreline.
The day ended with the prize giving ceremony for the winners on the day, but the icing on the cake was the singing of the school songs by students and ex-students of both school. The next event for Rivalry Games 2009 is badminton which is scheduled on
