SJI vs. VI Friendlies, Gathering of Batch '57 and Union Cup Soft Launch

On 5 August 2007, a couple of friendly matches between Victorians and Johanians were also held before the alumni league match. The 1st game was between VI '81 vs. St. John '87 which ended with the scoreline 4-2 in favor of the Victorians. Jack Oon was a hat-trick hero for VI '81 with Wong Chee Loke grabbing the other goal. It goes to show that even with a significant age gap between the two teams, Victorians still show their class and came out on top.

The 2nd game saw a mixture of Victorians from batches of '96 & '99 vs. St. John '96. The game was also won by the Victorians with the scoreline 4-2 with Ahmad Nazim Ali and Muhammad Nasir Ali scoring 2 of the goals.

These friendlies were jointly organized by VI '96 and St. John '96 to coincide with the soft launch of Union Cup 2007. Union Cup 2007 was mooted by the batch of '96 from both schools as an annual event to bridge the rivalry between the two schools. More details on the event will be posted as soon as it is finalized.

On that Sunday, the batch of '57 also held a gathering at the VIOBA clubhouse and they were more than happy to pose for a picture for VIOBA Events blog.

The 'Merdeka' Batch of '57 at the front entrance of VIOBA clubhouse with Dato' Kok Wee Kiat in the centre and alongside him is one of the webmasters of The Victoria Institution Web Page, Mr. Chung Chee Min (proudly wearing the Mokhtar Dahari Challenge Shield '07 T-shirt)
